2014 Carolina Ruggerfest

Dear Coach, Team Administrator, Parent

NCYRU invites your organization to the 2014 Carolina Ruggerfest.  In its 11 year history the Ruggerfest has attracted competition from across the United States, the Caribbean and Canada, and has grown to be one of the largest High School Rugby tournaments in the nation. 

This year we are pleased to announce that Ruggerfest has found a new home in the newly opened Mecklenburg County Sportsplex in Matthews, NC.  The Sportsplex, located just a few miles from our previous venue, offers five lighted all-weather fields, large rest room facilities, a playground, covered pavilion and is only minutes away from our partner hotels and restaurants..

With the addition of a 5^th field the 2014 Carolina Ruggerfest has now grown to accommodate 42 High School Boys and Girls teams.  The boys teams will be divided into three competition divisions; Elite, Boy’s Single High School and Boy’s Multi-High School.  To insure the best experience for your players, please make sure to indicate the skill level of your team when registering.

There is one Girl’s High School Division.  It is open to any U18 or High School team.   Ruggerfest also has limited space for U15 competitors; please contact us if you plan to bring a team.

As in previous years, you are invited to a catered reception on Friday night, where you will receive your team packets, socialize with your fellow coaches, get the latest news in High School rugby and have a great time.

Additionally, you and your players will receive free admission to our featured event, The College Showcase Game, on Saturday night.  The showcase will feature top rated college teams and will give your players an opportunity to meet with recruiters from several collegiate rugby programs. 

The 2014 Carolina Ruggerfest is shaping up to be our best ever.  We are already receiving notifications from returning teams that wish to register. Space is limited so please return your registration and deposit soon to reserve your spot.

Parking:
Please be aware that parking is limited at the SportsPlex. Each participating team will be given one (1) Parking Permit (included in team packet at registration), which will allow for car or trailer equipment drop-off. Specified parking areas for these permit holders have been identified – please see map below (~ 46 car spaces). All other parking will be on a first-come-first-serve basis. SportsPlex Overflow Parking will be catered for, approximately 7 minutes from the complex. Shuttle bus services (3 of) will be operating between the SportsPlex and Overflow Parking Facility (Located on the corner of Crestdale Rd and Matthews Mint Hill Rd. – follow the signs). Please add an additional 20 minutes to your planning routine for this. If you are not playing first thing in the morning, you should assume that parking at the SportsPlex is already full and it is recommended that you go straight to overflow parking. PLEASE notify all of your parents and players guests of the parking situation.
